Ella Faye Royer

December 27, 1919 - January 27, 2010

Ella Faye Royer, 90, of Joplin, passed away at 2:30 P.M., January 27 at Webb City Health and Rehab after a short illness. Faye was born on December 27, 1919 in rural Ottawa County, Oklahoma to Charles Baumann and Lola “Jarmin” Baumann.

She attended grade school in Peoria and high school in Miami. On January 7, 1938, she
married her childhood sweetheart, Harold A. Royer. He passed away January 28, 1980. Harold and Faye moved to Joplin and raised four sons and one daughter.

Fay retired from Elder Manufacturing in Webb City after 20 plus years ending her term as a line supervisor. Faye is survived by three sons and their wives, Kenneth (Karen) Royer of Joplin, Leroy (Sharon) Royer of Joplin, Chuck (Vicki) Royer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and a daughter-in-law Cheryl Royer of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Also surviving are five sisters, Pearl Johnson of Joplin, Jean Gilbreath of Jefferson City, Pat Arink of St. Louis, JoAnn Westbrook of Fargo, N.D., and Alice Hosfield of Joplin, 11 grandchildren, l0 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband Harold Royer, one son, Larry Royer and her daughter Barbara Bryan.

Harold and Faye enjoyed camping and traveling all over the United States. Faye continued to travel after Harold’s death especially to visit her beloved grandchildren. Faye was an avid fan and enjoyed watching her St. Louis Cardinals.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Webb City with Father John Braun officiating; burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. A rosary will be at 6:30 pm Sunday, with visitation to follow until 8:00 pm at the mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.thornhilldillon.com care of the mortuary.
